Here we are again. End of December looking back at everything that happened throughout this whole year, that bittersweet reflection of everything you’ve done throughout the past 365 days. That sort of painful sit down of looking back knowing it’s about to be nothing but memories in the past. Knowing all those moments were literally once in a lifetime. It’s so bittersweet.
I just returned home from a week and a half on the road by myself and let me tell ya, I already miss the open road. There’s something about going days on end without a shower, pitching a tent every night, the smell of campfires and that feeling of having time off and away from the rest of the world while you’re on the road. There’s no better feeling, I think we can all agree. But one thing that can get super hard is planning all of it: where to stay / camp, the best route to take for your trip, what hikes to do in a different state. A lot of work goes into making a roadtrip happen unless you like to be spontaneous and see where the wind takes you. So I want to share with you the most helpful apps I’ve found to download for FREE on your iPhone (Not sure about Android) to make your trip a bit easier!
It’s no secret that Iceland had been on my bucket list for a few years now.. The glaciers, endless mountains, crystal clear oceans, the vastness and wildness - How could it not be on your bucket list? The only possible answer I could think of would be money, but that’s why I’m here to tell you why living out of a van is the best way to explore this beautiful country! You kill two birds with one stone: Sleeping and exploring all day. Get a van and make it your home on wheels for a week and I promise you, you won’t regret a second of it.

I’ve got to admit I’ve been on a lot of road trips in my life and no route compares to the one I’m about to share with you. It’s a road trip that everyone must make once in their life - put it on the bucketlist right now! Because I’m here to share with you the ultimate roadtrip itinerary. I know it can get pretty stressful finding the best places to go and how to fit it all into one route.. I remember one of my customers telling me that life moves fast when it’s going good. Man, was he right. Guess it’s a good thing though. So here I am again.. Staring at my laptop, with my journal beside me and all these little scribbles of notes and short feelings I had along the road. Trying to piece it together again and write this journey I just went on as raw and real as possible. It was special. Real special. All of life feels that way lately though and I think it’s because I’m just letting everything create me.. I met a lot of people along the road - still strangers but conversations that were meaningful enough I’m still thinking about a week later, visited places that the road took me to and ended up being some of my favorite memories and got that feeling of being back to myself. 5173 miles travelled basically on the Carefree Highway.
The ultimate bucket list check off. It gave me goosebumps to be standing right infront of something you see so many pictures of. A sight you almost feel you know so well because you’ve seen it a million times. But like you’ll always hear - nothing compares to standing right there as a whole city screams as it lights up. Just such an awe inspiring moment. I cried knowing how that was such a once in a life time feeling. I’ll never see that for the first time again or feel that feeling again, it was so special. Knowing how that was such a moment in time.
Khao Sok National Park was the time of Thailand when I knew I had truly fallen in love, like I ripped a piece of my heart to leave here forever. Probably because it was halfway through my time in this beautiful country and it seemed more real to me that I was there. Probably because it’s the furthest I’ve ever felt away from home and the rest of the world.. Khao Sok just was the true reason for my loving of Thailand. We went from beaches and island hopping to a place that felt like Jurassic park.
I’ve felt like more childlike wonder these past 2 months than I did all of my last year total. You see, I always have a young spirit and I love spontaneity, adventure, always being on the go, you name it. But with that, also comes an old soul in me; the worrying and figuring out of the future. I sometimes forget the slow down period. The period of looking around and taking in everything that this moment offers. I forget to scream to the world just how happy I am when I feel like it, to laugh out loud to the point someone could mistake it for a dying seal, to cry when I feel something. Sometimes I just forget to really live. Like how we did when we were young.

Some days are better than others.. I’m sure if you suffer with depression or anxiety like I do, you know that sometimes you’re on top of the world and it feels like you could scream to it just how happy you are and how great life is.. Sometimes the world feels like it’s crushing down on you instead. To a point you just want it to suffocate you, to take away the uninvited thoughts and feelings. Right now it feels a lot like being suffocated.
Day 2 of our Iceland trip was the typical postcard views you see of this beautiful country.. Going from the geothermal pools, to Skogafoss, The old plane wreck, black sand beach and more this was the day I fell in love.
